Success in the land of the rising sun
The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra's Japanese tour is now at half time after the sixth and final highly successful concert in the seaside city of Niigata. The ensemble is now readying itself for the Tokyo series of performances at the capital 's largest concert venue, the Tokyo International Forum.
GYPO tour to Japan
The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra has the good fortune to be invited by Japan’s biggest music agency called KAJIMOTO to take part in a classical music festival entitled „La Folle Journée Japon” (Crazy days in Japan). GYPO is scheduled to give no less than 13 performances at the festival in the cities Niigata and Tokio ending on May 6.

On the day of Hungary's most celebrated national holiday, Friday morning in March 15, 2016, Minister of Human Resources, Zoltán Balog has decorated GYPO's artistic director, Liszt Prize winning clarinetist, conductor, Kálmán Berkes, with the award "Meritorious Artist of Hungary".

The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra herewith invites all patrons to the Audi Arena at 7pm on April 23, 2016, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, possibly the greatest playwright of all times. What makes this particular evening very special is the guest appearance of world-famous tenor and conductor, José Cura, who is already known to the Győr audience because of his last year’s stunt in the city. Incidentally, the role of the Moorish governor used to be one of Mr.
